While many sports-related injuries don't require surgery, our primary care sports medicine team is committed to giving you the necessary head-to-toe care, so you can return to a normal, pain-free lifestyle at work or on the field.

Our Clinical Team

You will be cared for by numerous members of our team, working under the direction and supervision of our specialists. We also have the availability of on-site X-ray services and durable medical equipment supplies such as splints, slings and crutches.

When should you see a doctor?
Mild pain or minor injuries that occur with activity can generally be controlled with self-help measures. Rest, topical ointments and the use of over-the-counter medications–such as aspirin and ibuprofen–are usually effective in treating mild cases.

When pain becomes more severe or persistent, it may be necessary to see your doctor. Seek medical attention when pain and swelling:
- occur when you are not involved in an activity
- cannot be relieved by rest or reduced by over-the-counter medications
- interfere with your ability to perform many activities, such as climbing stairs, bending over or grasping objects
- awaken you from sleep
Your treatment plan and medications

Your primary care sports medicine specialist will carefully evaluate your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan for your care. This may include the use of braces or splints, injections, physical therapy or medications.

Medications are prescribed only as necessary. For most patients with tendinitis or a minor sports-related injury, anti-inflammatory medications or steroids are typically prescribed for pain relief.
